Description of this Course
This course covers the Studio 5000 PLC Advanced Ladder Logic Training and is intended for users who already have some knowledge of Studio 5000 programming techniques across the platforms where it is used. Studio 5000 and the Rockwell Automation platforms that use it are very powerful and are my PLC software and hardware of choice as they are very user friendly.
I will be your instructor during this training and I have many years of practical experience creating projects programming PLCs HMIs commissioning systems and delivering face to face training. I also hold a SAQA Further Education and Training Certificate in Measurement Control and Instrumentation. This qualification is South African but is recognised in many countries internationally.
This is an advanced course and is not suitable for novice users. It will be to your advantage if you have previously completed the Studio 5000 Ladder Logic Training Basic course.
During this course I will show you how to create projects and apply more advanced programming techniques using Studio 5000.
Topics Covered
During this course I will cover the following topics:
- Refresher on establishing communication between the computer and PLC using RSLinx
- Using Bit Shift instructions
- Configuring Message instructions
- Creating Produced and Consumed tags
- Programming CPT and CMP instructions
- Creating User Defined Data Types
- Understanding the purpose of GSV and SSV instructions
- Creating and using Add-On Instructions
This description provides an overview of what you will learn but there is much more covered in the Studio 5000 PLC Advanced Ladder Logic Training course.
There are quizzes at the end of each section to help reinforce your knowledge and build confidence using the software. The course also includes practical labs for you to complete.
By the end of the course you will feel confident creating and running a project interrogating an existing project and making necessary changes to a running system.
The majority of the course consists of video tutorials where I explain the different aspects of RS Studio 5000 and demonstrate how to use the software in practice.
The more you use the software the more confident you will become. A follow on course covering Function Block Diagrams and Sequential Function Charts will then be of real benefit.
If you are serious about learning Logix5000 using platforms such as ControlLogix CompactLogix or SoftLogix and you already have reasonable knowledge of the software then this course is for you. Enrol now and start learning today.
