Description of this Course
This course covers Siemens S7 PLC Training using the TIA Portal and is intended for users who may have experience with other PLC systems but have little or no exposure to the Siemens TIA Portal environment.
I will be your instructor during this training and I have many years of practical experience creating projects programming PLCs and HMIs commissioning systems and delivering face to face training. I also hold a SAQA Further Education and Training Certificate in Measurement Control and Instrumentation which is recognised internationally.
During the course I will show you how to create a project and apply programming techniques using the most commonly used Siemens instructions.
Course Requirements
The only requirement for this course is computer literacy. However the following will be an advantage:
- General knowledge of PLCs
- Familiarity with Siemens PLC systems
These are not mandatory and the course is suitable for users new to Siemens PLCs.
Topics Covered
During this course I will cover the following topics:
- Creating a project in the TIA Portal
- Using the different function block types
- Setting up and navigating the software
- Understanding program flow within a project
- Programming ladder logic using common instructions such as bits timers and counters
- Establishing communication between the PLC and the computer
This list provides an overview only and additional material is covered during the course.
The course consists mainly of video tutorials where I explain the different aspects of the Siemens PLC system and demonstrate how to use the TIA Portal software. Practical labs are included along with quizzes after each section to help reinforce learning and build confidence.
By the end of the course you will feel confident creating and running a project interrogating existing projects and making necessary changes to a running operation.
The more you use the software the more confident you will become.
