Description of this Course
This course covers FactoryTalk View SE training for connecting to RSLogix Studio 5000 PLCs using FactoryTalk Studio software. It is intended for users who require the knowledge to create maintain and develop FactoryTalk View SE projects and become familiar with the tools available in the software.
FactoryTalk View SE is an HMI software used for operating and controlling systems across many industries including manufacturing utilities and entertainment. It is especially well suited for interfacing with RSLogix Studio 5000 PLC programs although it is not limited to this. It is a powerful yet very user friendly and versatile platform and is the HMI software I would choose where possible.
I will be your instructor during this training and I have many years of practical experience creating projects programming PLCs and HMIs commissioning systems and delivering face to face training. I also hold a SAQA Further Education and Training Certificate in Measurement Control and Instrumentation which is recognised internationally.
The course begins with an introduction to FactoryTalk View Studio and the FactoryTalk Directory followed by the creation of your first project.
Course Requirements
To benefit from this course it will be helpful if you have:
- General knowledge of PLCs
- Knowledge of RSLogix Studio 5000
- Knowledge of RSLinx
- Experience with similar HMI software packages will also be beneficial
Some prior Studio 5000 experience is an advantage but not essential.

- Configuring basic graphic displays
- Applying live data to graphic displays
- Creating a client and introduction to the command line and macros

- Creating trends and data log models
- Security configuration
- PID control

The course consists mainly of video tutorials where I explain the different aspects of FactoryTalk View SE and demonstrate the use of the software. Practical labs are included along with quizzes after sections to help reinforce learning. Solutions are provided for the practical exercises.
By the end of the course you will feel confident creating and running FactoryTalk View SE projects interrogating existing systems and carrying out necessary changes to a running operation.
The more you use the software the more confident you will become.
